It is with profound sadness that must inform you of the passing of R. Dale Thomas. Dale passed away today 10/28/08. Dale has been with me since the release of KnoppMyth Release 1. I met Dale at the Orange County Linux User Group over 5 years ago. Dale first offered to host the ISO of R1 for me as all I had was DSL out of my apartment. Shortly after, he started to help with development.
Since then, Dale has become a colleague, confidant, mentor and above all a friend. KnoppMyth wouldn't be what it is without Dale. We shall strive to meet his level of engineering excellence as we continue to work on R6 and beyond. I shall miss him beyond words.

That is truly sad news. If you are attending the funeral please pass along my condolences to his family.
Also, if the family is asking for donations in lieu of flowers, and you think it would be appropriate, I'm sure the community here would help out. |

To rdt:
The news that you were gone hit me like a ton of bricks. After getting over my disbelief, all I could think about was how lucky I was to have met you in person for the first time just a few weeks ago. It's hard to believe that you're no longer here. I will miss your guidance and chats in irc and hope that all your family and friends can take comfort in knowing that you truely have touched so many lives in a positive way.
Missing you,
Mike |

I just seen this post. That is terrible. I met him once at scale a few years ago and a few chats here and there on the forum and irc. He was a very nice person and had a great sense of humor. I remember him trying to point out the booth babes at SCALE.. (Booth babes at SCALE..)
He was so proud of how the knoppmyth gui installer was coming along, it's too bad he doesn't get a chance to show it off to everyone.
Knoppmyth and the entire linux community really lost a good friend..

Condolences to Dale's family, including the KnoppMyth developemnt/testing crew, and users. The only meeting with Dale that I've had is the wallpaper background screen that KM displays proudly. He will be missed by all of us.
His memory will live on in all of us that use KnoppMyth daily. Long live KnoppMyth! |

| I can only begin to imagine how you must feel. I thought of Dale as a sounding board for ideas and it was amazing how often he was lurking in the knoppmyth channels to offer a sage word of advice. For you, having worked closely with him for years, the loss must be terrible. All I can hear when I think of how you must feel is the noise that Chewbacca makes when Han is lowered into the carbonite freezing chamber. My thoughts are with you and the rest of Dales friends. |

I am sorry to hear this. I send my sympathies to all who knew Dale.
If an online newspaper obituary is published for Dale, could someone post a link?
Comfort and best wishes to all,
